My itineraries from the Can-Gavarres lodge to the coves of Sant Feliu De Guixols and S'Agaro
When I welcome travelers to Can Gavarres Cottage, There's one experience I almost always recommend first: exploring the coast by kayak from the Sant Feliu de Guixols beach and S'Agaró. It's a unique way to understand the Costa Brava, not from the road or the trails, but from the sea itself.
And above all, it's an experience I like to share here in a very personal way, because it perfectly represents the spirit of the place: freedom, nature and simple beauty.
From the Can Gavarres Gîte: between peace and quiet and privileged access to the coast
THE Can Gavarres Cottage It is nestled between the sea and the mountains, in an environment where time naturally slows down. Many of my visitors choose this place for the comfort of a luxury cottage, but they leave with much more: a different way of experiencing the Costa Brava.
In just a few minutes by car, you can reach the coast and in particular the area of Sant Feliu de Guixols and S'Agaró, an ideal starting point for a kayaking trip.
This is often where the day begins: coffee on the terrace, waterproof bag ready, and already that feeling of adventure taking hold.
Sant Feliu de Guíxols Beach and S'Agaró: the perfect starting point
Sant Feliu de Guíxols is a lively, authentic coastal town where the sea is an integral part of daily life. Just next door, S'Agaró offers a more elegant, almost timeless atmosphere, with its spectacular coastal paths and sweeping views of the Mediterranean.
It is between these two worlds that my kayaking expedition often begins.
From the beach, the water is calm early in the morning. Kayaks are ready to be rented directly on site through the services of kayak rental on the beaches of S'Agaro or San Feliu, which makes the experience very accessible, even for those who have never paddled.
The moment it all begins: gliding on the sea
I remember very well the first time I paddled here. There's that precise moment when the noise of the shore disappears, replaced only by the rhythm of the water against the hull of the kayak.
We gently leave Sant Feliu beach, and already the coastline is changing:
- The cliffs are getting higher.
- the pine trees extend almost down to the sea
- The coves begin to appear like well-kept secrets, like small fish in the clear water…
It's a very peculiar feeling: being close to everything, while feeling like you're alone in the world.
The secret coves of the Costa Brava: my favorite route
Depending on the weather and my mood that day, I often sail between several coves accessible only by sea.
Cala del Molí
An ideal first stop. The water is often incredibly clear, and the cliffs give an impression of raw power.
Cala Maset
It's a cove that I particularly love for its tranquility. You immediately feel a sense of intimacy with the landscape.
Cala Jonca
Wilder, more isolated. Here, the silence is almost total. It's often the place where I advise visitors to stop for a long time.
Cala Ametller
Perfect for a longer break!
Each cove has its own personality, but all share that simple and sincere beauty for which the reputation of the Costa Brava.
It is in these moments that many travelers tell me they understand why they came here.
An experience that perfectly complements a stay at Gîte Can Gavarres
What I particularly love is the contrast between the day at sea and the return to the calm of the luxury cottage.
After a few hours of kayaking:
- A refreshing shower, outdoors or indoors!
- a nap in the shade
- A book under the pergola or on the veranda
- a drink on the terrace at sunset
- A little jazz or soft music
The stay then takes on a whole new dimension!
THE Can Gavarres Cottage is not just a place to sleep: it is a base for exploring, breathing and experiencing the Costa Brava in a different way.
Why this experience leaves such a strong impression on my travelers
Over time, I've noticed something: those who take this kayak trip often talk about it as a highlight of their stay.
It's not just the beauty of the landscapes. It's:
- Silence on the water, finally some peace and quiet!!
- The feeling of total freedom! Magical photos
- the coves discovered by chance, the deep and clear water
- and that rare feeling of being exactly where you belong, ending with drinks on the terrace!
Conclusion: an intimate and authentic Costa Brava
Exploring the coast between Sant Feliu de Guíxols beach and S'Agaró by kayak is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful ways to discover the region.
Since the Can Gavarres Cottage, This experience becomes even more seamless: we leave in the morning, we explore, we stop in the most romantic coves, then we return to a comfortable and soothing setting.
It is this alternation between adventure and serenity that makes a stay here so enriching.
And if you come to stay at the gîte, there's a good chance I'll tell you the same thing when you arrive:
“Don’t miss the sea… it tells the true story of the Costa Brava.”
